Barbara Bates
BA(Hons), SRN(ret’d), MInstLM, AMAC, Level 7 ILM Exec Coach & Mentor, Cert NLP, Hypnotherapy & Timeline Practitioner, Accredited Executive & Personal Coach (AC)
As an accredited personal and executive coach, Barbara works mainly one to one with
professional people under pressure - particularly but not exclusively care managers,
vocational assessors, teachers, nurses, and other health care workers, and social workers - to work out what needs to change, to increase effectiveness, well-being, and resilience, in our changing world, using robust understandings from the growing field of neuroscience. Over the last couple of years, she has become increasingly aware of and exercised by climate issues, working out what we have to do in this desperate situation.
Qualified to degree level, she has a nursing background as an ex-general nurse, and 30 years experience in the health and social care field. She was involved in the management of homes for the elderly and later in training and assessing staff in these areas for professional qualifications. She has undertaken freelance writing in the social care field. She continues to write for her several newsletters and blogs and has recently produced several short ebooks based on this work.

In 2009 she discovered coaching and has done as much as she could ever since! She started with a level 3 qualification in Workplace Coaching, going on to the level 7 ILM Certificate in Executive Coaching & Mentoring; she worked with the Institute of Customer Service (ICS) holding their Solutions Professional Award and acting as an accredited External Assessor with the ICS. She is currently accredited with Harrison Assessments.
She has three grown-up children scattered across the UK and the globe, one as far as New Zealand! Barbara is an amateur recorder player with seventeen beautiful instruments to her name. She enjoys music, singing, cooking, photography, gardening, crafts and as a voracious reader, always has about ten books on the go.
